Tutorial for Pop up Topper

A nice lady called Glenda asked me if I could do a tutorial for the pop up topper that I made. I've never done one , but I'll have a go, here it is as plain as I could make it. I have made it small so that you can practice without wasting too much card. when you are used to making them you can then adjust the dimentions accordingly.
First you will need 1 x piece of card 19cms x 10cms - 2 x pieces of card 8cms x 4 1/2cms and a strip of carrier bag measuring 19cms x 2cms. ( see pic 1)
On the back of the large piece of card score lines at 2cms then at 8cms then at 14cms. You should now have 1 panel of 2cms ( a ) - 2 panels of 6cms ( b and c ) and 1 panel of 5cms ( d )
In the top of panel b punch about half of a round circle or cut by hand ( see pic ) In the top of panel d mark a line 1cm in from the fold line and 1 cm in from the edge, cut out a rectangle between these lines - top 1cm deep x 3cms width - bottom 1/2 cm deep x 3cm wide.
Punch a hole for ribbon in the top of one of the contrasting pieces of card ( e ) round off the corners if desired.
Second place the strip of carrier bag around the slot you have cut in section d . Put a small amount of double sided tape on it, to secure the ends to each other - Take care not to overlap the tape onto the card as the strip of carrier bag needs to be free running.
Third how to attach flap e - place a small amount of double sided at the top of the strip of carrier bag - approx 1cm x1cm will be sufficient. If you want to decorate the flaps it is probably easier to do so before you attach them. Make sure the decorated side is facing inwards on this section ( away from you so you can't see it ) and with the rounded corners facing downwards.
Fourth attaching flap f - flip section d over and attach the flap at the bottom, this time with the decoration facing outwards ( towards you ) make sure the rounded corners and punched hole re at the top, again a piece of tape about 1cm x 1cm will suffice.
Fifth pull it round gently to see if the mechanism works. It should look something like pic 5 .
Sixth fold around flaps, attach double sided tape to the 2cm strip then fix to the back.
Seven it should look like pic 7.
Eight push the flaps back inside it should look like pic 8.
These toppers can give you limitless possibilities for your card making or scrapbooking and Ihope you have managed to make one from my ramblings, if you are at all unsure if you leave a comment on the blog I will try to make things a little clearer.
